Job Description

at Department of Transportation in Peoria, Illinois, United States Job Description Essential Functions Directs, supervises, and coordinates data collection activities by field surveys and office research necessary to update the status of the Illinois Inventory System ( IHIS ). Seeks more efficient and effective data collection methods to support planning and programming activities. Ensures information provided for state, county, and city maps are accurate and current. Represents the district at various meetings with local officials to obtain mapping and data collection information. Ensures training for district personnel in technical aspects of data collection necessary to support the district’s planning and programming activities. Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS five years of engineering experience; OR Seven years of engineering experience. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of the Illinois transportation network including minimum standards for design, jurisdiction, and maintenance responsibilities. Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with internal and external clients. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Knowledge and experience with Illinois Highway Information System ( IHIS ), IL Roadway Analysis Database System (IRoads), Geographic Information System ( GIS ), and Microsoft Access and Excel.
