Job Description

Kirkham Michael provides integrated engineering and construction services to a wide variety of public and private clients. We are a dynamic firm focused on our clients' success and we fulfill project and program needs from initial concept through implementation with innovative, yet practical solutions. We are currently looking for an energetic and knowledgeable individual to fill a full-time Transportation/Bridge Engineer in Training position in our Ellsworth, Cheney or Salina, Kansas Office. This position could be filled by a recent college graduate or an individual with professional experience. The title/level of position will be based on the skills and experience of the candidate selected.
Primary Function :
This entry-level full-time position located in the Ellsworth, Cheney or Salina, Kansas office will involve general civil engineering duties including preliminary bridge design, bridge modeling, bridge load rating, MicroStation OpenBridge design, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of bridge structures, plan production, cost estimates, permit applications and other tasks associated with bridge projects. The ideal candidate will work under the direction of a senior team member and receive specific instruction for required tasks and project components. You will create design drawings and conduct basic engineering calculations on assigned portions of multiple projects. Instruction on bridge design, bridge load rating, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and MicroStation OpenBridge design will be provided to you as you begin to apply your engineering education to our bridge projects. Duties/ Responsibilities Performs standard engineering computations or analysis. Assists in the preparation or modification of plans, reports, specifications, and permits for projects. Assists in the development of probable construction quantities and construction cost estimates for design projects. Preliminary bridge design and structural details. Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling of bridge and drainage structures. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or (similar engineering degree) or currently enrolled as a senior at an accredited university majoring in Civil Engineering. Previous engineering work experience not required, but a plus.
