Job Description
The Principal Engineer for the TMC (Transportation Management Center) serves as Division Head for Transportation Management in the Public Works department. This role plans, directs and supervises the design, development and construction of all transportation management activities related facilities through coordination with assigned professional engineers and technical staff. The Principal Engineer for the TMC works closely with other City divisions and government associations (including MODOT and Greene County) to focus on continuous improvement and maintenance of traffic and transportation projects in the Springfield community. Experience, Education, and Training Graduation from an accredited college or university with specialization in Urban Planning, Geography, Public Administration or related field; AND Five years of experience in infrastructure design, traffic management and ITS, water resources engineering, or Construction management in assigned divisional area, two years of which must be in supervision of engineering professionals through direct supervision or project management; A master's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline may be substituted for one year of work experience. Licensing/Certification Must possess an active Professional Engineer's license; MO registration, as issued by the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers, required within six months of employment. Certification as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) is preferred the Transportation Management Principal Engineer. Must possess a valid driver's license.
