Job Duties:
Under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Engineer the successful applicant will be mentored and given opportunities to learn the different facets of field engineering by being exposed to a variety of work such as grading, pavements, and structures. You will be trained in various facets of heavy highway construction and operations including surveying, construction inspection, materials testing, project management, traffic control, project development, as well as managing staff and resources.
Examples of work:
Performs engineering assignments related to construction; Applies engineering management principles to construction projects; Performs, coordinates, or supervises inspection and survey work on construction projects; Prepares project records, reports, and estimates; Interprets plans for contractors, resolves field issues, and organizes work activities; Provides project construction information to contractors, landowners, public officials, and the public; Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline. Must obtain Engineer Intern Enrollment (Engineering in Training Certification) within one year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. Successful completion of FE/EIT examination. Experience in roadway design and/or highway construction.

Engineering degree programs must be
EAC/ABET
accredited or evaluated by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) as equivalent to an accredited degree. Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation. Requires occasional out of town travel and working extended hours to meet deadlines. Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Effective communication skills are required to perform the essential functions of this job. Candidates may be required to work extended hours that may include nights, evenings, and weekends.
