Job Description

Posting Details Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date. The Construction and Civil Rights Bureau (CCRB) is part of the Operations Division. CCRB provides the resources necessary to ensure the quality of construction projects by improving decisions made in the field, making information available for training and to maintain statewide consistency. As a valued new employee to NMDOT, you may be eligible to receive three (3) days of administrate leave upon your start date. This is applicable to external hires not within the State of New Mexico Government. Why does the job exist? The purpose for the Construction Liaison Engineer is possessing administrative and oversight authority of the Federal-Aid Highway Program (FHAP) in accordance with the Stewardship and Oversight Agreement and agency responsibilities designated therein. How does it get done? This position will attend all relevant design and construction meetings, provide written comments and action as needed, and keep accurate and up to date electronic files of all active projects in the assigned district. Work with the design region, district staff, project managers and Construction and Civil Rights Bureau staff to ensure projects are in compliance with all federal and state requirements. Critically review all change orders to determine federal participation, complete project inspections, and complete inspection reports as required. Who are the customers? New Mexico Department of Transportation Construction Program employees. Ideal Candidate New Mexico Department of Transportation Construction Program employees. Minimum Qualification Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant engineering discipline with licensure and four (4) years of engineering experience, one (1) of which must be as a Licensed Professional Engineer. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Must be certified by the
NMBLPEPS
as a Licensed Professional Engineer in good standing within six (6) months of hire. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course certificate as a condition of continued employment. Professional Engineer License Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting. Exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage. Communication with the general public and public agencies on a frequent basis. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to meet multiple deadlines.
