As the largest public transit agency in the State of Ohio, GCRTAs service options include bus, BRT, trolley, paratransit and three rail lines. GCRTA makes connections that empower individuals, neighborhoods, and communities to rise. We offer a wide range of comprehensive benefits and programs to support the health and wellness of employees and family members including health benefits (medical, dental and vision), a wellness incentive program and participation in the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System (OPERS.) The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority is seeking an Engineering Co-op to assist the Engineering & Project Management Department. This is a temporary, 10-week, full-time position.
Detailed Description Duties:
Under the supervision of the Director of Engineering & Project Management, the Engineering Co-op will assist in rail and bus transit project design, administration and construction management of GCRTA Capital Program projects. The Co-op will be asked to participate in project meetings and communicate with other members of the larger project team and internal staff from other GCRTA divisions, particularly Operations and Safety. Ongoing projects include rail and signal construction projects, tie replacement and track rehabilitation, construction of E. 79th Red Line Station, Warrensville-Van Aken Substation and station improvements, and numerous smaller projects at various stages of design and construction. Most projects involve multiple Engineering disciplines such as Mechanical, Electrical, Civil and heavy construction. This position will promote a safe and secure atmosphere, follow all safety and security rules and perform other related duties as assigned.Job Requirements Requirements:
Applicant must have completed one or more years of an Engineering Degree from an institution or related program. Applicant must be willing to travel downtown and throughout Cuyahoga County to heavy construction sites that may have active bus or rail traffic. Applicant should be interested in interacting with a diverse group of agency, contractor and other interested stakeholders. Experience in the use of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint is a plus. Successful candidates will be expected to pass a background check and drug test.
