Job Description

The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor. Our CAV/ITS Project Engineer position provides technical expertise and project management for connected and automated vehicles (CAV) projects, intelligent transportation system (ITS) projects, and emerging technology projects in the MnDOT Office of Connected and Automated Vehicles (known as CAV-X).
This work includes:
  • Developing and managing scopes of work, research, project schedules, project budgets, risk registers, and project management plans.
  • Managing project communications, engagement and relationship building with stakeholders for each project.
  • Supporting the implementation of CAV and ITS strategic plan initiatives.
  • Providing technical support and expertise for MnDOT and external partners on ITS, CAV and systems engineering.

            Minimum Qualifications:
            Engineer Senior Minimum Qualifications:
            Licensure as a professional engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity. (If obtaining licensure through reciprocity, a temporary permit from
            AELSLAGID
            must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.) Experience managing transportation projects. Experience applying engineering principles, practices, techniques and methods. Experience analyzing engineering information, identifying problems and recommending solutions. Experience coordinating and/or directing the work of staff and/or consultants. Engineer 2
            Graduate Minimum Qualifications:
            A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or environmental engineering from an ABET accredited college/university; and two years post-graduation civil engineering work; OR A Master's degree in civil or environmental engineering from an ABET accredited college/university; and one year of post-graduation civil engineering work. AND A passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. Experience managing transportation projects. Experience applying engineering principles, practices, techniques and methods. Experience analyzing technical information and identifying problems.
