Position Overview P. Joseph Lehman, Inc., Consulting Engineers is seeking a motivated Entry-Level Highway/Roadway Engineer to join our Highway Solutions team. Since 1969, our firm has delivered outstanding, on-time, and within-budget engineering solutions for transportation projects across central Pennsylvania and surrounding states. This role provides hands-on roadway design experience and strong professional development opportunities, focusing primarily on supporting roadway and highway projects for PennDOT (including District 9-0), the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and municipal clients under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers. Education Requirements Bachelor's degree (4-year) in Civil Engineering (preferred) or Associate's degree (2-year) in Civil Engineering Technology or a closely related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant roadway or transportation experience (including internships or co-ops) will be strongly considered. Experience Requirements 0-3 years of experience in civil engineering (entry-level candidates and recent graduates are encouraged to apply). Internships, co-ops, or relevant coursework in roadway/highway design are highly valued. Experience with PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and/or municipal transportation projects is a plus. Required Skills Experience in AutoCAD and Civil 3D preferred for roadway plan production, alignments, profiles, cross-sections, and construction documents. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform design work under supervision while learning project management principles. Primary Responsibilities Support roadway and highway projects for PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike, and municipal clients from concept through final design and construction support, working under the direction of senior staff to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Assist with detailed roadway/highway design and plan production using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, including horizontal and vertical alignments, profiles, cross-sections, grading plans, drainage details, intersections, roundabouts, utility coordination, and complete construction plan sets. Perform design computations, prepare quantities, cost estimates, specifications, and technical documentation while ensuring compliance with PennDOT, Turnpike, AASHTO, and local municipal standards. Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team (survey, environmental, bridge/structural, and construction services) to deliver integrated, high-quality project solutions. Participate in QA/QC reviews, incorporate redlines and agency comments, support project scheduling, permitting, and preparation of technical reports. Contribute to sound, innovative, and responsible engineering solutions that enhance community quality of life while meeting client budgets, timelines, and expectations. Actively participate in professional development and mentorship opportunities to grow within the Highway Solutions team. About the Firm Founded in 1969, P.
