  • 6/1/2026 The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is seeking a Professional Engineer to join our dynamic Region Two construction team.
Key Responsibilities As a Field Engineer (Engineer III), you will assist the Region Construction Manager with monitoring consultant Construction Engineering Management (CEM) teams and supporting the District Engineer with running the Region Construction program.
Your duties include:
Monitoring consultant CEM teams and their construction projects. Working in a team to meet quality, scope, schedule, budget, and safety requirements on assigned projects. Performing field inspections. Reviewing submittals, change orders, plans and specifications. Writing or drafting technical reports, articles or related material based on research, investigation or analysis. Working with the public who may be impacted by the projects. Working with CEM teams, UDOT Project Managers, and contractors. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications What You'll Bring to the
Team:
Licensure:
You are a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Utah (or have the ability to obtain one per Utah Code 58-22).
Field Expertise:
You have some experience in heavy civil construction, and you are excited to learn how plans and specifications get translated into the real world.
Digital Proficiency:
You're comfortable navigating the tools of the trade, including CADD and other design software.
Relationship Management:
You're a "people person" who excels at navigating the UDOT partnering process, building trust with contractors, and communicating clearly with the public.
Strategic Problem Solving:
You enjoy the challenge of identifying and solving project issues in a fast paced environment.
Mentoring:
You enjoy sharing your knowledge and helping the next generation of engineers grow. Preference may be given to applicants who: have at least one year of experience in the construction or materials field. are current UDOT employees.
