Your impact Participate in planning, budgeting, and delivering traffic engineering projects including traffic operational analysis, traffic microsimulation models, roadway design, signal design, ITS design, signing and marking, and/or construction traffic control plans, etc. Prepare design elements and design plans for highway/roadway civil design. Provide quantity calculations and project cost estimating, research standards and specifications and works with city, state, county, and federal manuals research design options and documents findings for project engineers and/or project managers. Coordinate project assignments with other engineers and technicians in discipline group. Work within a team on multiple projects; attend design review meetings and interact with clients; assists with other duties assigned by project engineers and/or project managers. Lead plan sheet production, specifications, and project estimates for WSDOT roadway preservation and roundabout development projects. Analyze clear zones, sight distances, alignments, and elevations using WSDOT and AASHTO design manuals. Participate in weekly design meetings with clients, providing input on design feedback and contract documentation. Design ADA-compliant pedestrian facilities, such as curb ramps and walkways. REQUIREMENTS
This position requires a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field and 2 years of work experience in the job offered or related Transportation Engineering occupation. As an alternative, the employer will accept: a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field and 4 years of work experience in the job offered or related Transportation Engineering occupation.
SPECIFIC SKILLS
Expertise/knowledge of:
Project experience in Department of Transportation (DOT) and Local Public Agency (LPA). AutoCAD Civil 3D or Open Roads Designer (ORD) to perform engineering tasks including developing 3D models and performing highway, weigh station and roundabout geometry design. Applying the AASHTO design guidelines to transportation projects. Various types of roadways, traffic, and intersections design projects including design and plan development of new and rehabilitation of highway, ramps, weigh stations, fish passage and roundabout intersections. Ability to develop cost estimates, contracts and project documentations in transportation projects. Ability to provide technical guidance to entry level engineers to further professional development. Professional Engineer (PE) license. #

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
