This position will manage the activities of the Metro Traffic Signing Unit. This position is responsible for directing the development of MnDOT Signing plans for state construction projects, reviewing plans prepared by consultants and local agencies, responding to internal and external requests from the public and managing consultant contracts. This position is located at district headquarters in Roseville and has the flexibility to work in the office or a hybrid schedule that includes in office and teleworking time. If working a hybrid schedule, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor. The Minnesota Department of Transportation does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • To qualify for Engineer Principal, applicants must meet all the following: + Licensure as a professional engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID).
(If obtaining licensure through Comity, a temporary permit from
AELSLAGID
must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.) + Three (3) years of post-registration engineering experience at the Engineer Senior level (or equivalent) that demonstrates broad-based traffic engineering experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • + Experience providing work direction, training, or mentoring to staff.
+ Knowledge and application of the MnDOT Signing Plan Design process + Knowledge and application of the MMUTCD, TEM, MnDOT Standard Signs and Markings Manual/Summary, Signing standard plans, design tools + Knowledge of the MnDOT Standard Specifications for Highway Construction and special provisions + Project Management Skills (Scoping, Scheduling, Baselining, Budget Management, Documentation, etc.)
