As a Senior Transportation Resident Engineer for our Construction Management team in Southern California, you'll oversee construction operations, monitor contractor performance, ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications, and mentor field staff while supporting successful project delivery. What You'll Do As our Senior Transportation Resident Engineer, you will oversee and manage transportation construction projects including highways, bridges, and roadway improvements: Pre-Construction & Planning
Provide bid-ability and constructability reviews, and prepare contracts and schedules for execution.
Construction Oversight & Administration
Administer contracts, monitor contractor performance, manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and design change proposals to ensure projects meet approved plans, specifications, schedule, and budget.
Field Staff Leadership
Supervise and mentor field staff and sub-consultants, ensuring safety, quality, and efficient operations.
Stakeholder Coordination & Issue Resolution
Collaborate daily with owners, designers, contractors, inspectors, and regulatory agencies to proactively resolve project challenges.
Project Documentation & Cost Management
Maintain accurate project records, support cost tracking, and facilitate change management.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) / Civil Engineer in California
10+ years of construction or project management experience, including Caltrans and local agency projects
Ability to travel between project sites and office facilities
Ability to work on-site under typical construction conditions including heights, uneven surfaces, ladders, and confined spaces
Proven ability to win work with public sector clients
Compensation & Benefits
Salary:
$150,000 - $215,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
Incentives:
