Traffic Engineer (PE)•5-10 Years Experience 📍 Dallas, TX (Hybrid flexibility available) Overview We are seeking a Traffic Engineer (Professional Engineer, PE) with 5-10 years of experience to join our growing transportation team in Dallas. This role is ideal for a hands-on, production-focused engineer who enjoys diving into technical work, delivering quality design, and supporting a variety of traffic and transportation projects across North Texas. This is a "doer-level" position , not a pure project management role•you will remain actively involved in engineering production, analysis, and design. Key Responsibilities Perform traffic engineering analyses and design including: Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA) Signal warrant studies and signal timing Intersection capacity analysis (HCS/Synchro/SimTraffic/VISSIM) Corridor studies and operational assessments Develop traffic signal plans, signing & pavement marking plans (PS&E) Support TxDOT and local municipality projects , ensuring compliance with standards (TxDOT, MUTCD, local guidelines) Assist with traffic control plans (TCP/TMP) and construction phasing Conduct data analysis using traffic counts, crash data, and modeling tools Coordinate with internal teams (roadway, drainage, planning) and external stakeholders Prepare technical reports, exhibits, and documentation Support senior staff and PMs with deliverables while managing your own tasks and timelines Qualifications Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas (or ability to obtain within 6 months) 5-10 years of traffic engineering experience Strong experience with: Synchro / SimTraffic (required) HCS, VISSIM, or similar modeling tools MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Familiarity with: TxDOT design standards and processes MUTCD and local agency criteria (City of Dallas, NTTA, surrounding municipalities) Experience preparing or supporting PS&E packages Strong analytical, technical writing, and problem-solving skills Preferred Experience TxDOT project experience and/or precertifications Exposure to ITS, signal timing optimization, or advanced modeling Experience working on urban roadway or corridor improvements in DFW What This Role Is (and Is Not) ✅ Hands-on, technical engineering role ✅ Significant design and analysis responsibility ✅ Opportunity to grow into PM or technical lead ❌ Not a pure management role ❌ Not heavily business development-focused Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary ( ~$95K•$125K+ depending on experience) Bonus opportunities Health, dental, vision 401(k) with match Flexible/hybrid work options Clear growth path toward Senior Engineer / PM / Technical Lead Why Join Strong backlog of TxDOT and municipal projects across DFW Collaborative, engineer-focused culture Real opportunity to own technical work and develop expertise without being pushed too early into PM/Biz Dev Get job alerts Share Copied to clipboard Related roles Project Manager
