Job Description
We're partnering with a respected & employee-owned civil engineering firm in New Mexico that is expanding its transportation group across multiple offices. They're seeking a Transportation Engineer with strong roadway and highway design experience to support municipal, DOT, and regional infrastructure projects. This position can be based in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, or Las Cruces•or performed remotely for the right candidate, with occasional travel as needed for project coordination. Key Responsibilities Execute roadway and highway geometric design, including horizontal/vertical alignments, corridors, and intersections. Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates (PS&E) for transportation projects. Develop design calculations, engineering reports, and technical documentation. Support traffic engineering tasks such as traffic control plans, signing/striping, or signal design based on experience. Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality project delivery. Participate in project scoping, scheduling, and quality control reviews. Assist with proposals and project pursuits when needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field. 4-10+ years of roadway, highway, or transportation engineering experience. PE license required•or the ability to obtain a New Mexico PE within 6-12 months (mandatory). Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation/OpenRoads. Experience preparing construction documents for DOT or municipal agencies. Working knowledge of AASHTO, MUTCD, and applicable state DOT standards. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience with NMDOT projects. Exposure to traffic engineering tasks such as modeling, capacity analysis, or signal timing.
