Job Description

Manages projects of various complexity such as Federal Aid Resurfacing, urban road widening, intersection improvements, bridge replacement projects, etc. Assists engineers on projects with project management duties. Monitors project QA / QC, erosion control and traffic control activities on projects for compliance with approved plans. Assists engineers on projects with training and coordination of inspectors. Prepares monthly construction estimates, change orders and final plans. Performs project closeout duties. Performs project inspection duties on projects. Meets with and responds to inquiries from the public, contractor personnel, utility company representatives, city and county officials as necessary while representing the Department. Performs other related duties as assigned. A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management and one (1) year of engineering or construction management work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
Physical Requirement:
The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. This position may require travel. This position may require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. This position required driving and walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. This position may be exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise. A motor vehicle operator's license is required. Applications accepted on-line at careers.sc.gov.
