Job Description

Job Title:
Transportation Engineer Job Description Lead and manage transportation engineering projects, including roadway, highway, multimodal, and traffic engineering assignments. Develop and oversee design plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports in accordance with applicable standards and agency requirements. Responsibilities Serve as Engineer of Record, providing technical guidance, quality control, and professional engineering sign‑off. Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to ensure project objectives, schedules, and budgets are met. Manage project teams, including task delegation, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring high‑quality deliverables. Conduct and review engineering analyses, such as traffic operations, geometric design, safety studies, and corridor planning. Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation, scope development, and client presentations. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation design standards and environmental requirements. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master's preferred). Professional Engineer (PE) license in the applicable state or ability to obtain via comity. 15+ years of progressive transportation engineering experience, including project management responsibilities. Demonstrated expertise in roadway/highway design, traffic engineering, or transportation planning. Proficiency with industry-standard software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Synchro, HCS, and GIS. Strong communication, leadership, and client‑facing skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high‑quality work on schedule. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
