Full-Time About the Opportunity We are partnered with a growing, multidisciplinary planning and engineering firm expanding its footprint in Texas. The firm has a strong reputation in community planning, master planning, and public-sector consulting , and is actively investing in building out its traffic and transportation capabilities in the region. This role is a unique opportunity for a mid-level Transportation Planner / Traffic Engineer (PE) to step into a highly visible position and help shape and grow the firm's traffic planning practice in Texas , with full backing and technical support from established teams in other states. Position Overview The Traffic Planner will serve as a key technical and strategic contributor across a diverse portfolio of projects focused on municipalities, counties, and regional agencies . This individual will lead traffic and transportation planning efforts , contribute to broader master planning and community planning initiatives , and help expand the firm's presence across Texas. This is an ideal role for someone with 8-15 years of experience looking for increased ownership, client exposure, and the ability to build a practice area , without needing to be at the late-career principal level. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage traffic engineering and transportation planning projects , including: Traffic Impact Analyses (TIA) Corridor and intersection studies Long-range transportation plans Multimodal transportation planning (pedestrian, bicycle, transit integration) Integrate transportation solutions into master planning and community planning projects Serve as the primary traffic planning resource in Texas , collaborating with internal teams across multiple states Build and maintain relationships with municipal and county clients Support business development efforts , including proposals, project positioning, and client engagement Provide technical oversight, mentoring, and guidance to junior staff as the team grows Ensure compliance with Texas (TxDOT/local) standards and regulations Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or related field Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas 8-15 years of relevant experience in traffic engineering and/or transportation planning Strong experience delivering projects for municipal and county agencies in Texas Proven background in: Traffic analysis and modeling Transportation planning Public-sector project delivery Ability to operate independently and take ownership of projects and client relationships Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting or leading master planning and community planning efforts Familiarity with TxDOT processes, local agency coordination, and permitting Experience with tools such as: Synchro / SimTraffic HCS VISSIM or similar modeling software (a plus) Interest or experience in practice building or team growth Strong communication and presentation skills with public-sector stakeholders What Makes This Role Unique Opportunity to build and lead a traffic planning function within a respected planning-focused firm Exposure to both technical traffic work and high-level planning strategy Backed by established national expertise , without heavy corporate structure Strong pipeline of municipal and county projects Ideal step for a professional looking to transition from execution into leadership and influence Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary (commensurate with experience) Performance-based bonuses Full benefits package (medical, dental, vision, 401k, PTO) Clear path toward leadership and growth within the Texas market Get job alerts Share Copied to clipboard Related roles Heavy Civil Superintendent Temple Hills, MD
