We are looking for a Licensed Professional Engineer (LPE) with a strong passion for leading, bridge design, rehabilitation and repair. Position Description Transportation Engineer III:
Performs advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
Transportation Engineer IV:
Performs [highly] advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. [Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product].
Essential Duties:
Transportation Engineer III:
Assists Project Managers to establish realistic and achievable schedule baselines for complex projects. Designs highly complex bridge projects and performs specialized design. Leads/Trains professional and administrative staff. Reviews shop drawings, plans, specifications, estimates, supplemental agreements and change order requests. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Transportation Engineer IV (in addition to Transportation Engineer III): Performs highly advanced and complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts. Serves as a project manager overseeing consultants performing advanced and complex engineering work. Coordinates and/or monitors assigned projects/programs/plans. Leads/Trains professional and administrative staff. Performs highly complex structural analysis of bridge designs. Reviews and checks special designs and solutions for unique structural problems.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science bachelor's or higher degree accepted by TX PELS.

Minimum Qualifications Licenses and Certifications:
Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle. Licensed Prof Engineer• Mandatory Safety Impact Certificate Professional engineers licensed in another state in the United States, but not currently licensed in the State of Texas, must (1) meet the license requirements of the State of Texas Engineering Practices Act, (2) obtain a professional engineering license from the State of Texas within six (6) months of the date of hire, and (3) sign an agreement to that effect as a condition of employment.

Transportation Engineer III:
Geometric design relationships to traffic operations, maintenance and construction Foundation analysis programs Fatigue and fracture mechanics Applicable plans, specifications and estimates preparation, review, processing and compliance requirements Design and plan preparation methods and requirements Transportation Engineer IV (in addition to Transportation Engineer III): Structural engineering terminology, principles, practices and methods and the application of engineering theory Performing basic design and drafting Performing calculations to include material and labor estimates, expenses, technical survey data and engineering calculations Planning, coordinating and handling multiple projects within area of responsibility to meet short and long term deadlines Leading, assigning, reviewing, and monitoring the work of others
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions Required to wear protective gear-respirator, hard hat, or other device Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
