With continued growth in the region, the organization is investing in leadership to expand its roadway design capabilities and strengthen partnerships with state and local agencies.

Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Roadway Group Lead to help grow and lead a transportation design team. This senior-level position is responsible for technical leadership, staff development, and contributing to business growth across roadway and highway projects in the region.

This is a key leadership opportunity to influence project delivery, mentor engineers, and play a strategic role in expanding a growing transportation practice.

Key ResponsibilitiesProvide technical and team leadership for roadway and highway design projectsOversee the preparation of roadway design plans, reports, specifications, and construction cost estimatesServe as Engineer of Record and ensure quality control of deliverablesMentor and develop engineering staff, supporting both technical and professional growthCoordinate with project managers, internal teams, and subconsultants to deliver projects on time and within budgetBuild and maintain strong client relationships with transportation agencies and municipalitiesSupport business development efforts including proposals, scopes, and client presentationsContribute to the strategic growth of the roadway/transportation practice in the regionRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (ABET accredited)Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain via reciprocity)10+ years of progressive experience in roadway or highway designStrong knowledge of DOT standards and transportation design practicesProficiency with roadway design software (e.g., OpenRoads, Civil 3D) and Microsoft Office toolsProven ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyStrong communication and client-facing skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience in a technical lead, group lead, or similar leadership roleBusiness development experience with public sector transportation clientsFamiliarity with multimodal design (complete streets, trails, ADA compliance)Active involvement in professional organizations (e.g., ASHE, ACEC, or similar)What's OfferedCompetitive compensation with potential sign-on bonusRelocation assistance availableHybrid work flexibilityComprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, life, disability)401(k) with company matchGenerous PTO and paid holidaysTuition reimbursement and professional development supportClear path for leadership growth and career advancement
