Engineer IV•Transportation Project Management Come join the Transportation Division for an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that is delivering transportation infrastructure with the City of Virginia Beach. The selected candidate will perform perform a variety of engineering duties of a complex nature which may include any combination of: Project management Designing and reviewing plans and specifications for high way, roadways and storm drains Supervision of technical staff, staff engineers and field engineers Related work as required The Transportation Engineer IV will provide technical guidance and oversight for senior project managers during the project delivery process, including but not limited to: Project initiation/scoping Design procurement Contract management roadway design Environmental permitting Public outreach Public/private utility relocation Construction procurement Construction management Project closeout and warranty monitoring Additional duties include but are not limited to: Track and monitor project development process to provide mitigation efforts for schedule/budget impacts as well as update reporting for the Management Team Coordinate with state and federal transportation representatives for project delivery progress Provide technical support and guidance for project delivery process improvement and documentation Provide quality assurance to ensure consistent project documentation for project managers Coordinate project development and delivery with other City Departments and stakeholders Develop reports and presentations (oral and written) for executive level project updates Provide oversight, guidance, and approvals for design and construction contracts Develop and address annual performance evaluations and manage personnel issues The City offers a generous benefits package, which includes health, dental and life insurance, retirement and savings plans, maternity/paternity and parental leave, holidays and leave. Minimum Requirements:
MINIMUMS
Requires a Bachelors Degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) approved engineering or engineering technology program with a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license from the Virginia Board of Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Certified Interior Designers and Landscape Architects (APELSCIDLA) and seven (7) years of progressive professional experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

None Preferences:
Experience in planning design and construction of roadway and other transportation CIP projects. Experience with City of Virginia Beach, Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) project management procedures and roadway design standards. Program Management Experience Site Acquisition and Utility Relocation Experience Experience with managing technical staff Knowledge of and experience in public sector procurement and contract administration requirements and processes Experience with public outreach addressing stakeholder concerns Experience with public presentations as well as excellent communication skills (written and oral)

V RS Contribution:
