Job Description

A national, 100% employee‑owned consulting firm with more than 2,800 professionals is seeking a skilled Project Engineer. The firm provides multidisciplinary engineering, architecture, information technology, and related services to public and private clients across the United States. It is consistently ranked among the top design firms in the country.

Position SummaryThe Project Engineer will be responsible for roadway and transportation engineering design, applying established engineering principles to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate project assignments.

Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesDesign transportation improvements for roadways, interchanges, intersection upgrades, sidewalks, and trail projects.

Review and analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography, and topographic/geologic data for project planning.

Perform engineering calculations and design computations.

Develop designs in accordance with client standards using industry‑standard software.

Prepare construction cost estimates.

Assist in the development of engineering documents for advertisement and construction, including contract plans and specifications.

Participate in decisions related to project scoping, budgeting, and progress monitoring.

Attend meetings with clients and project stakeholders.

Coordinate with internal team members to ensure timely, high‑quality project delivery.

Direct and oversee project sub‑consultants and in‑house technical disciplines.

Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work.

Nonessential FunctionsPerform additional related duties as assigned.

Required SkillsProficiency in OpenRoads 3D Modeling and MicroStation.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required ExperienceBachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related discipline from an ABET‑accredited program.5-10 years of experience in transportation or a related engineering specialty.

Preferred QualificationsProfessional Engineer (PE) license.

Experience working with local, county, or state transportation agencies.
