Job Title:
Quality Engineer Job Description The Quality Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of product quality and compliance within an aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. This role involves conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Corrective Actions (CAPA), and handling quality documentation and audits. Responsibilities Investigate nonconformances, primarily related to manufacturing and occasionally customer-related issues. Manage customer complaints and support documentation packages tied to shipments. Develop and enhance quality processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with customer-specific requirements, particularly for international clients. Conduct regular Root Cause Analysis and implement Corrective Actions. Participate in audits and maintain comprehensive quality documentation. Engage in cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Operations, Production teams, and the Quality team. Participate in 1-2 customer meetings per week and maintain regular email communication. Essential Skills Proven experience in Quality Engineering within a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in AS9100 standards. Strong expertise in CAPA, RCA, quality audits, and documentation. Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS), NADCAP standards, and aerospace industry practices. Additional Skills & Qualifications 3-5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering. Engineering degree preferred. Background in Aerospace or Defense industries. Experience in a manufacturing environment. Work Environment The position is based in a manufacturing facility in San Diego, operating Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 3:30 PM. The company is a high-growth aerospace and defense manufacturer known for producing flight-critical components. The Quality team consists of approximately 14 members, including a Quality Manager, four Quality Engineers, a Quality Supervisor, and multiple Inspectors. The company has experienced significant growth, expanding from ~$20 million to a projected ~$60 million this year, with a long-term goal of reaching ~$100 million. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of El Cajon, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $40.00/hr.
