We are seeking a highly skilled Commissioning Engineer to support the installation, testing, and optimization of advanced automated material handling systems across multiple large-scale distribution and fulfillment centers nationwide. This role is ideal for professionals with strong electrical controls, PLC integration, and industrial automation experience who thrive in fast-paced, on-site project environments. You will play a critical role in ensuring systems are installed correctly, operate efficiently, and meet all performance, safety, and quality standards. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge automation projects while collaborating with cross-functional engineering and project teams. Key Responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate electrical subcontractors to ensure alignment with engineering drawings and commissioning schedules Perform I/O checkout, cabling verification, and device testing to validate system functionality Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues , including PLC integration and industrial networking Oversee pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for automated conveyor and sorter systems Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and project specifications Document test results, deviations, and commissioning progress for project turnover Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and customer stakeholders to communicate updates and resolve issues Support training and knowledge transfer for subcontractors and on-site teams Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best practices in commissioning processes Required Skills/Education:
Hands-on experience with industrial automation, controls systems, and PLC troubleshooting Strong knowledge of I/O systems, cabling, and industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, etc.) Experience commissioning material handling systems (conveyors, sorters, distribution systems) Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings Proven ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate on-site project activities Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and in team environments Willingness to travel extensively (up to 80-100%) and work extended hours during commissioning phases Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) Project & Travel Details:
