Job Description
Quality Engineer - Aerospace ManufacturingPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to ensure product conformity, drive continuous improvement, and maintain compliance with aerospace quality standards. The Quality Engineer will lead first article inspections, manage quality systems and audits, support validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ), and implement corrective actions (CAPA/RCCA) across manufacturing operations to deliver safe, reliable products in accordance with AS9100 and
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and execute First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 and prepare FAIR documentation, ensuring timely sign-off and closure of discrepancies.
Plan, perform, and report incoming, in-process, and final inspections to verify product conformity using CMM, hand tools, and other metrology equipment.
Manage and execute
Develop, implement, and maintain quality system processes to meet AS9100 and
Investigate nonconformances and customer quality issues; lead CAPA and RCCA efforts to drive root-cause resolution and preventive actions.
Support APQP and PPAP processes for new product introductions and engineering changes, coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet program requirements.
Perform supplier quality management activities including supplier assessments, incoming inspection planning, and corrective action follow-up.
Interpret engineering drawings using GD&T and communicate inspection requirements to manufacturing and suppliers.
Conduct internal audits, participate in external/customer audits, and ensure timely closure of audit findings.
Analyze quality data and metrics (e.g., SPC) to identify trends, drive continuous improvement projects, and reduce defects and scrap.
Maintain calibration and metrology programs to ensure measurement integrity and traceability.
Train production and inspection personnel on quality procedures, inspection techniques, and use of measurement equipment.
Qualifications3+ years of quality engineering experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing preferred.
Hands-on experience with AS9102 (First Article Inspection / FAIR), AS9100, and
Practical knowledge of
Demonstrated experience leading CAPA and RCCA processes and using root-cause analysis tools (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone).Familiarity with APQP and PPAP processes for new product introduction.
Proficiency with GD&T interpretation, CMM programming/operation, and common metrology equipment.
Experience with quality control tools such as SPC, FMEA, control plans, and inspection plans.
Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and aerospace requirements.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; able to work across cross-functional teams.
Experience with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office. ASQ certification (CQE/CEA) or relevant certifications a plus.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and travel to supplier sites as required.
