Mott Corporation - Cleanroom Manufacturing Environment Position Summary The In-Process Inspector / Process Auditor | 1st Shift is a hands-on quality role responsible for ensuring product and process integrity within Mott's cleanroom manufacturing operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a zero-defect environment by executing in-process inspections, enforcing quality gates, and supporting process auditing. Over time, the role expands in scope to include process validation, control verification, and continuous improvement initiatives that directly impact product quality and operational excellence. This role offers the opportunity to: Be embedded directly on the production floor as a key quality partner Build quality into the process rather than inspecting it out Develop deep product and process expertise within a highly regulated environment Grow into advanced quality functions including process auditing, control validation, and systemic problem solving Contribute to a zero-defect culture where precision and accountability are essential Key Responsibilities In-Process Inspection & Quality Control Execute inspections per engineering drawings, specifications, control plans, and work instructions Perform first-piece, in-process, and final verification inspections Ensure inspection integrity through consistent methods, proper handling, and objective evidence Verify inspection equipment readiness and suitability prior to use Capture and record inspection data to support defect tracking and trend analysis Nonconformance Management Identify nonconformances and initiate containment actions Escalate quality issues in accordance with established procedures Partner with production teams to clarify requirements and reduce repeat defects Process Auditing & Compliance Conduct routine process audits to confirm adherence to defined standards and operating limits Evaluate production operations against approved procedures and specifications Examine key process inputs including equipment, materials, environment, methods, and measurement systems Verify effectiveness of process controls and operator training Document audit findings using objective, traceable evidence Ensure corrective actions are assigned, tracked, and verified for effectiveness Support layered process audits and identification of systemic issues Required Qualifications & Technical Skills Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (preferred) Experience in manufacturing inspection, quality assurance, or similar technical role Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications Working knowledge of ISO-based quality systems Proficiency with common inspection tools and measurement equipment Understanding of measurement systems, uncertainty, and inspection bias Familiarity with basic data analysis, trending, and SPC concepts Strong documentation and record-keeping discipline Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced production environment Core Competencies & Attributes Results-driven with a strong sense of ownership and accountability Eager to learn and develop within quality and process auditing disciplines Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and consistency Analytical thinker with a proactive, problem-solving mindset Collaborative team player who works effectively with operators and cross-functional teams Organized and capable of managing multiple priorities with guidance Strong follow-through on tasks, actions, and commitments Comfortable working in a regulated, cleanroom manufacturing environment Career Path & Development This role provides a foundational pathway into advanced quality functions, including: Process Auditor / Senior Quality Technician Quality Engineer Supplier Quality or Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) roles Continuous Improvement / Operational Excellence leadership Work Environment Cleanroom manufacturing setting requiring adherence to strict contamination control protocols Frequent interaction with production operators, engineers, and quality leadership Hands-on role with significant time spent on the production floor Are you ready to join a different kind of company where our people, our culture, and our commitments are centered around providing trusted solutions that improve lives around the world?
