Mid-Level Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Engineer to join our manufacturing team. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that products meet the required quality standards and specifications throughout the manufacturing process. This role requires a strong understanding of quality assurance methodologies, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance:
Develop and implement quality control plans, inspection criteria, and testing procedures to ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements. Monitor and evaluate production processes, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring adherence to quality standards. Conduct root cause analysis for product defects and non-conformances, implementing corrective and preventive actions to address issues.
Inspection and Testing:
Oversee in-process and final inspections of products, utilizing various measuring tools and techniques to assess quality. Coordinate and perform audits of manufacturing processes and systems to ensure compliance with internal and external standards. Manage the documentation of inspection results and maintain records of quality-related data for traceability and analysis.
Continuous Improvement:
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to enhance product quality and process efficiency. Analyze quality data and metrics to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and improve overall quality performance.
Training and Support:
Provide training and support to production personnel on quality standards, inspection techniques, and best practices. Assist in the development of training materials and quality manuals to enhance team understanding of quality processes. Act as a liaison between quality assurance and other departments to promote a culture of quality throughout the organization.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare and present quality reports and metrics to management, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement. Ensure that all quality documentation is maintained accurately and in compliance with industry standards and regulations. Assist in the preparation of documentation for customer audits and certifications.
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience:
3-5 years of experience in quality engineering or quality assurance within the manufacturing industry. Strong understanding of quality standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in quality inspection tools and techniques, including statistical process control (SPC), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and root cause analysis (RCA). Familiarity with CAD software and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Experience with quality management systems (QMS) and documentation practices.
Other Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, or a related field is required. Relevant certifications (e.g., CQE, CQA, Six Sigma) are a plus.
