ASU Service Manager

JOB SUMMARY
The ASU Service Manager is responsible for leading the reliability strategy, maintenance execution, and continuous improvement of all rotating equipment, fixed process equipment, and electrical systems across the facilities. This role directly manages rotating equipment technicians, process equipment technicians, and electrical and controls technicians. The position reports to the Director of Process Equipment Reliability and partners closely with Operations, Engineering, and Planning to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective equipment performance. Essential Functions Lead and manage the reliability and maintenance strategy for all rotating, process, and electrical equipment. Directly supervise and develop rotating equipment technicians, process equipment technicians, and electrical & controls technicians, and regional maintenance technicians. Ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operation of critical equipment assets. Develop, implement, and sustain preventive, predictive, and condition based maintenance programs. Analyze equipment performance data and trends to improve reliability, availability, and maintainability. Assists root cause failure analyses (RCFA) and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented. Establish asset criticality, reliability standards, and maintenance best practices. Coordinate maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution to minimize downtime and reactive work. Support equipment commissioning, major overhauls, outages, and turnaround activities. Ensure compliance with EHS policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Support Management of Change (MOC) activities related to equipment modifications and upgrades. Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Capital Projects to improve equipment design and reliability. Manage vendors, contractors, and external service providers supporting equipment maintenance. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote a proactive reliability culture. Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support during equipment failures and emergencies. Support long term asset lifecycle planning and capital replacement strategies. Ensure accurate documentation, procedures, and equipment records are maintained in the maintenance system. QUALIFICATIONS
Education Associate's Degree Associate degree in an industrial field plus 15 years of related experience
  • Required Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering (or closely related field) plus 10 years of related experience
  • Preferred Work Experience 5-7 years Engineering related manufacturing experience in Industrial Air Separation industry Preferred 5-7 years O&M related work in an industrial environment
  • Required 1-3 years Reliability Engineering related work
  • Required 1-3 years Project Management related work
  • Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Technical Deep knowledge of rotating equipment (centrifugal/reciprocating compressors, expanders, pumps, blowers, gearboxes, motors, chillers, cooling towers), process equipment (heat exchangers, columns, vessels, control valves, analyzers) and instrument and controls processes (4-20 mA, transmitters, transducers, electrical 1 lines, PLCs, pneumatic control valves, vibration sensors, RTDs) Understanding of condition monitoring and precision maintenance: vibration analysis, balancing/alignment, lubrication excellence, oil analysis, IR thermography, ultrasound, motor diagnostics, performance monitoring.
Knowledge of engineering standards, codes, and regulatory requirements applicable to industrial equipment. Skilled in troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, and process equipment failures Skilled in data analysis, trend evaluation, and reliability performance reporting Ability to translate technical issues into operational and business impacts Leadership Strategic thinker who can translate reliability risk into business outcomes and prioritize accordingly. Strong leader-coach with the ability to build high-performing technical team. Excellent problem solving. Clear, concise communicator; able to influence at all levels-frontline to executive-and across functions. Ability to identify reliability risks and implement sustainable solutions Skilled in planning and prioritizing maintenance activities to balance reliability and production needs Licenses and Certifications Certification CMRP (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional)

Working Condition This role will be performed in office environments as well as in industrial field environments. While performing duties of this job it would occasionally be required to:

  • Be exposed to outside weather conditions (e.g. cold box valves, filling trailers).
  • Be exposed to high, precarious places (e.g. cold box, repair work)

g. Plant rounds, maintenance) Working Condition May also be required to work from a home location, which must be conducive to performing the role and duties, including virtual/video meetings. Working Condition Must sign NDA, have a clean driving record and pass background check and drug test. Travel Requirements 50-75% of the time Ability to travel and required to provide weekend and evening support as needed.
