Job Description:
We're partnered with a highly respected Chicago-area manufacturer seeking a Senior Reliability Engineer to lead and expand their in-house product reliability and testing function. This is a unique opportunity to step into a high-visibility role where you will oversee the company's reliability lab, drive ISO certification efforts, and play a key role in ensuring products meet the highest standards for performance, safety, and regulatory compliance. Even more exciting, this position is designed as a long-term succession opportunity, with the goal of growing into a Reliability Manager role as the team expands. What You'll Be Doing Lead the company's product reliability and testing efforts Develop and execute accelerated life and stress testing Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Investigate product failures and implement corrective actions Manage and operate the internal reliability laboratory Drive and maintain ISO and related laboratory certifications Support regulatory approvals and compliance efforts Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve product performance Help build and eventually lead the reliability function What We're Looking For 5+ years of experience in reliability engineering, quality engineering, or mechanical testing Strong understanding of reliability methodologies and accelerated testing Experience with FMEA and root cause analysis Background with ISO 9001 and laboratory certification processes Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or Lead Auditor credentials are a plus Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary offered Annual bonus (historically pays out ~10% most years) Hybrid flexibility following first 6 months (1-2 remote days per week once established) Strong benefits package 17 days PTO Clear path to leadership and team management Why This Role Stands Out In this position, you'll have the opportunity to build a best-in-class testing and certification lab, help the company certify products internally, and directly influence product quality and innovation on a global scale.
