Job Description:
Quality Engineer The Quality Engineer develops, implements, and maintains robust quality systems to ensure consistent compliance with industry standards and customer requirements. This role focuses on driving process control, leading corrective actions, and collaborating closely with plant teams to resolve quality issues and support continuous improvement. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain quality systems to ensure compliance with applicable standards and customer requirements. Verify the use of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and other process controls in production processes, and train and develop operators as needed to ensure correct application. Assist with 8D corrective actions related to customer complaints and internal concerns, maintaining detailed logs to ensure timely disposition of parts and effective closure of issues. Build and maintain strong working relationships with plant management and operators to collaboratively resolve quality issues and improve processes. Plan, conduct, and document internal audits of the quality system to verify adherence to established procedures and standards. Assist with the preparation, maintenance, and control of documentation associated with quality standards, including ISO 9001, IATF, SPC, and compliance requirements. Interface with the quality inspection department to prepare Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation and ensure accurate, timely submission. Review, track, and disposition all internal non-conforming materials and products, ensuring appropriate corrective and preventive actions are implemented. Ensure training programs for employees are developed and conducted on quality system policies, procedures, and standards. Develop and maintain customer-specific requirements, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Process FMEA (PFMEA), and process flow charts to support product and process quality. Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities to ensure quality is built into new products and processes from the outset. Complete other quality-related duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives. Essential Skills Proven experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing or production environment. Hands-on experience with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation and submissions. Strong knowledge and practical application of Statistical Process Control (SPC) in production processes. Solid understanding of ISO 9001 and IATF quality management standards and related compliance requirements. Experience in quality control methodologies and practices within an industrial setting. Ability to conduct and participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities. Ability to interface and communicate effectively with customers and plant supervisors to resolve quality issues. Strong technical writing skills to create clear, accurate, and concise quality documentation and reports. Proficiency in project management with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, audits, and improvement initiatives. Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions. Ability to train and coach operators and other employees on quality systems, procedures, and process controls. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience developing and maintaining customer-specific quality requirements. Experience creating and maintaining FMEA, PFMEA, and process flow charts to support process and product quality planning. Familiarity with internal auditing practices and audit documentation. Comfort working cross-functionally with quality inspection, production, and plant management teams. Attention to detail and a systematic approach to documentation, tracking, and reporting. Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glendale Heights, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
