FLSA Status:
Exempt Goal / Objective of Position Perform quality engineering functions throughout all phases of the product lifecycle for assigned products and projects. Support the implementation of automotive quality standards and internal quality systems across manufacturing and supplier processes. Essential Job Duties Supervise product quality for assigned products/projects across the full lifecycle: Project phase Serial production Post-serial production Support implementation of quality standards and processes, including: Molding tool correction processes (quality-driven improvements) Automotive product safety standards and requirements Lead part approval processes (internal, customer, and supplier-facing), including preparation and maintenance of: Flow charts Control plans
FMEA MSA
studies Dimensional reports SPC documentation Plan and develop inspection, testing, and evaluation standards and methods Evaluate feasibility of customer requirements and specifications Analyze and initiate corrections to molding tools and related processes to meet customer requirements Negotiate quality-related agreements with customers and suppliers, especially during:
PPAP APQP
Manage quality claims (customer, internal, supplier), including: Root cause analysis Corrective and preventive actions Updates to FMEA and related documentation Customer portal updates Analyze quality data and dimensional reports; perform capability studies Support implementation of new or updated customer requirements and ensure compliance Travel to suppliers and customers as required Authorities (Decision Making) Approve or reject product quality for assigned products within customer and company standards Initiate corrective actions and determine containment measures Stop production when quality issues are identified Approve restart of production after corrective actions are completed Approve product quality releases within defined standards Identify and approve optimization needs for molding tools and related processes Competencies / Qualifications Degree in plastics engineering, mechatronics, industrial engineering, or equivalent experience Strong knowledge of automotive quality systems and standards Expertise in molding tool correction processes (quality-focused) Knowledge of automotive product safety requirements Strong understanding of quality core tools:
APQP PPAP MSA SPC FMEA DFA QFD
Knowledge of tool & die and plastic processing Experience with measurement tools and inspection techniques Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills Project management experience Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T Strong negotiation and communication skills
