Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer to support our growing in-house assembly operations. This position will play a key role in improving product quality, reducing defects and rework, strengthening supplier quality, and helping build practical quality systems that support daily production. This is not a desk-only quality role. The right candidate will spend time on the production floor, work closely with Production, Operations, Production Engineering, Purchasing, and suppliers, and help move the organization from reactive quality checks to controlled, data-driven process improvement. The ideal candidate is practical, organized, technically curious, and comfortable solving real manufacturing problems in a fast-moving environment. Key Responsibilities Manufacturing Quality Support daily production quality activities for in-house assembly operations. Investigate defects, failures, rework, scrap, and warranty-related issues. Work with Production, Operations, and Engineering to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Develop and improve inspection points throughout the assembly process. Help define clear pass/fail criteria for production and final quality checks. Support line startup, new product builds, and process changes. Monitor quality trends and escalate recurring issues before they become larger problems. Quality Systems & Documentation Help develop and maintain practical quality procedures, work instructions, inspection forms, and quality records. Support development of an ISO 9001-style Quality Management System appropriate for the current maturity of the business. Assist with document control, revision control, corrective action tracking, and audit readiness. Support internal audits, layered process checks, and continuous improvement activities. Create simple, usable quality standards that production employees can clearly understand and follow. Corrective Action & Problem Solving Lead or support root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Why, fishbone diagrams, Pareto analysis, and structured problem-solving methods. Develop corrective action plans and verify effectiveness. Track open quality issues through closure. Support customer complaint investigations and field issue analysis. Work cross-functionally to prevent repeat failures. Supplier Quality Support incoming inspection standards for purchased parts and assemblies. Work with Purchasing and suppliers to resolve quality issues. Issue and follow up on supplier corrective action requests when needed. Help define supplier quality expectations, inspection criteria, packaging requirements, and defect reporting methods. Support supplier performance tracking and reporting. Metrics & Reporting Track and report key quality metrics, including: First-pass yield Defects per unit Rework hours Scrap cost Supplier defects Customer and field quality issues Audit findings Prepare regular quality reports for management. Use data to identify trends, priorities, and improvement opportunities. Support KPI dashboards and daily/weekly quality reviews. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field required. Equivalent hands-on manufacturing quality experience will be considered. 3+ years of experience in manufacturing quality, assembly quality, supplier quality, process quality, or a similar role. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to support or lead root cause investigations. Experience with inspection methods, quality records, corrective actions, and process controls. Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, work instructions, and bills of material. Strong communication skills with both shop-floor employees and management. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis. Preferred Qualifications Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems. Experience with electromechanical products, refrigeration systems, water systems, appliances, or assembled equipment. Experience with supplier quality and incoming inspection. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Toyota Production System, Six Sigma, or structured problem-solving. Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as Fishbowl, NetSuite, Odoo, or similar. Experience developing work instructions, inspection plans, control plans, or process check sheets. ASQ certification, Six Sigma Green Belt, or similar quality certification is a plus but not required. Key Attributes The right candidate will be: Hands-on and comfortable working directly with production teams. Practical and solutions-oriented. Detail-oriented without getting buried in paperwork. Strong at separating symptoms from root causes. Organized, disciplined, and consistent with follow-up. Comfortable challenging weak processes in a professional way. Able to teach, coach, and support production employees. Data-driven, but willing to go see the actual process firsthand. A strong communicator with a high sense of ownership. What Success Looks Like Success in this role means: Quality issues are identified earlier in the production process. First-pass yield improves. Rework and scrap are reduced. Supplier defects are documented, communicated, and addressed. Inspection standards become clearer and more consistent. Corrective actions are completed effectively and do not repeat. Quality reporting becomes routine, simple, and useful. Production, Operations, R D, and Quality work together as one team. Why Join Us This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to help shape the quality function in a growing manufacturing environment. You will have the chance to build practical systems, improve real processes, work directly with cross-functional teams, and make a visible impact on product quality and customer satisfaction. We are looking for someone who wants to do more than maintain a system that already exists. We need someone who can help build the process, improve the process, and make quality visible before problems reach the customer. If you are a person that defines good character, strong work ethic, and a willingness to hold yourself accountable, we want to hear from you! www.onebn.com.com Thank you for considering Bottleless Nation!
