Job Description

The Production Quality Engineer - is responsible for developing, implementing, managing and monitoring in-process quality systems within metal machining and cold forming operations. This role focuses on real-time quality monitoring, defect prevention, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to ensure product conformance and process stability. Key Responsibilities In-Process Quality Management Develop and implement in-process inspection plans and control strategies for machining and cold forming operations Establish process control methods to monitor production quality Define critical-to-quality (CTQ) characteristics and ensure they are effectively measured and controlled Audit production processes to verify compliance with quality standards and procedures Process Improvement & Problem Solving Lead root cause analysis for in-process defects Implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce scrap, rework, and variation Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to optimize processes and tooling Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield, efficiency, and cost reduction Quality System Development Design and maintain standard work instructions, inspection procedures, and quality documentation Ensure alignment with customer requirements and industry standards Data Analysis & Reporting Analyze in-process quality data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities Report key quality metrics to leadership Develop dashboards or visual controls for shop floor performance monitoring Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with production, maintenance, and tooling teams to address quality concerns Support new product launches and process transfers with quality planning and validation Train operators and supervisors on in-process quality standards and inspection methods Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related field) 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment (metal machining or cold forming preferred) Strong understanding of in-process quality control methods and statistical techniques (SPC, MSA) Experience with root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T Preferred Experience with cold forming processes (heading, stamping, forging) Knowledge of quality standards such as
ISO 9001
Familiarity with measurement systems (CMM, vision systems, gauges) Key Competencies Analytical thinking and data-driven decision-making Strong attention to detail and process discipline Effective communication across shop floor and leadership levels Hands-on approach with a continuous improvement mindset Work Environment Primarily based in a manufacturing facility with regular presence on the shop floor Requires interaction with production equipment and inspection tools
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
