Job Title:
Quality Engineer - Pilot Launch Support Job Description The Quality Engineer will support the Pilot Launch team by ensuring new parts meet all quality standards before entering production. This role focuses on root cause analysis, quality documentation, data analysis, and supplier material validation while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to support successful product launches and provide clear updates to customers. Responsibilities Support the Pilot Launch team in introducing new parts into production and ensuring a smooth and successful launch. Perform root cause failure analysis on new parts prior to production using structured problem-solving methods such as 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone. Conduct data analysis, including SPC and Cpk studies, to evaluate process capability and identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Prepare, maintain, and support quality documentation, including PPAP packages, FMEA, gage R&R studies, and related records. Utilize gauges such as taper gauges, scales, levels, and calipers to measure parts and verify that they meet dimensional and quality specifications. Use Keyence scanning equipment and other measurement tools to validate part geometry and ensure compliance with design requirements. Validate supplier materials to confirm they meet quality and specification requirements before use in production. Interpret and work from blueprints and GD&T requirements to assess part conformance and support quality investigations. Support color matching and visual quality assessments as required for new product launches. Communicate quality findings, launch status, and updates clearly and professionally to customers and internal stakeholders. Collaborate with a small Quality team and interact with various departments across the plant to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement. Use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) to analyze data, prepare reports, and present findings to internal teams and customers. Provide support for additional project and launch activities, including overtime work when necessary to meet project timelines. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience in a quality role within a manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience performing root cause analysis using methods such as 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone. Knowledge of PPAP processes and requirements. Experience with quality documentation, including PPAP, FMEA, and gage R&R. Data analysis skills with knowledge of SPC and Cpk. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and apply GD&T concepts. Proficiency using measurement tools such as calipers, taper gauges, scales, and levels. Ability to perform and interpret color matching evaluations as needed. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Strong communication skills to provide clear updates to customers and internal teams. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience conducting Cpk studies and interpreting capability results. Experience working directly with both suppliers and customers to resolve quality issues and support launch activities. Associate or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as engineering, quality, or a related discipline. Familiarity with APQP processes and launch-related quality activities. Experience using Keyence scanning equipment or similar measurement technologies. Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail in documentation and analysis. Work Environment The Quality Engineer will work as part of a small, collaborative Quality team while interacting frequently with multiple departments across the plant to support new product launches. The role involves regular use of measurement tools, Keyence scanning equipment, and computer-based applications such as Microsoft Office for analysis and reporting. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with some overtime as needed to support project and launch timelines. The environment is fast-paced and focused on continuous improvement, with opportunities to contribute directly to the success of new projects in a growing, expanding organization. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Georgetown, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.69 - $32.69/hr.
