Job Description
Quality Engineer Job Description This Quality Engineering position is responsible for supporting strategies, plans, and goals for interfacing with the Research and Development Organization. The role involves defining Key Product Characteristics and Controls, applying DFMEA and PFMEA applications, and communicating quality improvements to the design department. Additionally, the role includes implementing 'Lessons Learned' from Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, and Service, leading Quality Coordination in new Product Quality Planning, and participating in Quality Gates, product validation, and Engineering Change application. Responsibilities Own the process for generating, distributing, and securing approval for all applicable customer quality submittals, including PPAP and other required documentation. Lead the coordination and resolution of complex process non-conformances related to specialized materials and processes such as rubber compounding, adhesive coating, and injection/compression molding. Implement robust Root Cause Analysis, drive Corrective and Preventive Actions, and ensure timely communication of results across departments. Act as the primary technical quality liaison with key partners regarding complex processing issues to ensure alignment on quality standards, process controls, and deviation management. Coordinate the development, rigorous implementation, and comprehensive training for all Quality Assurance procedures and work instructions. Provide dedicated Quality readiness support throughout the Advanced Product Quality Planning cycle, ensuring the flawless launch of new projects and new product introductions from concept to mass production. Maintain a deep understanding of ISO 9001 and/or IATF quality management system requirements and lead the implementation and continuous improvement of procedures to ensure ongoing certification and compliance. May include travel - domestic and/or international (5%). Essential Skills Associate's degree in engineering minimum required. 3 years minimum Quality Engineer experience. Strong computer skills, including experience with relevant software for data analysis, quality management, and reporting (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Minitab, ERP systems). Proven experience and strong working knowledge of IATF quality management systems. Proven experience with the Production Part Approval Process, including compiling, submitting, and obtaining customer approval for all required documentation. Proficient in using structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa diagrams) to identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions. Experience in planning, conducting, and reporting internal product and process audits to ensure compliance with standards, specifications, and quality plans. Comprehensive understanding and hands-on experience with the Advanced Product Quality Planning process, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, and development of Process Control Plans. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in Automotive OEM or suppliers. Familiar with 8D problem resolution. Ability to perform PPAP. Familiar with PFMEAs, Process Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, APQP, and other quality documents. Demonstrated capability in identifying Best Practices and leadership in successfully implementing these. Exposure to Value Engineering, Lean Systems thinker, and Change agent. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a high level of energy. Persistent drive for results utilizing sound project management, organizational and problem-solving skills. Work Environment This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hebron, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $38.46/hr.
