Quality Engineer - Direct Placement

Full-Time, Direct Hire About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Engineer to support manufacturing quality, drive continuous improvement, and maintain compliance with customer and industry standards. This position is hands‑on, analytical, and central to ensuring product quality, process capability, and supplier performance. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical inspection skills, experience in automotive or industrial manufacturing, and proficiency with key quality tools and methods. Key Responsibilities Product & Material Inspection Inspect materials and products for surface defects , dimensional accuracy, and overall conformance. Use precision measuring tools to verify specifications and determine acceptance or rejection status. Tag and record defects, marking parts, containers, or inspection documents accordingly. Perform mechanical and analytical testing as required. Technical Expertise & Testing Interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T , and work with engineering/management to set quality standards. Select products for testing at defined production stages and perform tests on dimensions, performance, and mechanical characteristics. Operate diagnostic and test equipment, including: Optical comparator Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Various gages and measurement devices Conduct calibrations on gauges, instruments, and environmental measuring devices. Quality Systems & Documentation Perform receiving inspections and testing of inbound materials. Maintain and update the Document Control System (as assigned). Apply ASTM standards , customer-specific requirements, and applicable quality regulations. Complete and manage key quality documentation including:PPAP PFMEA SPC
charts Capability studies Supplier scorecards Supplier Quality & Customer Communication Audit suppliers to verify compliance with relevant standards. Communicate results from customer scorecards to internal teams and suppliers. Complete supplier scorecards and collaborate with suppliers on corrective actions. Leadership & Team Support Oversee day‑to‑day activities of Quality Inspectors/Technicians, including scheduling, mentoring, timecard management, and discipline. Serve as deputy for the Quality Manager , as assigned. Support continuous improvement activities, product launches, and problem-solving initiatives. Perform additional duties as required. Qualifications Required Strong mechanical inspection experience.Hands-on experience with:
Optical comparator CMM Various gaging and measurement techniques Working knowledge of: AIAG Core ToolsPPAP PFMEA SPC
, capability studies, and statistical methods Root cause analysis methodologies Familiarity with ASTM standards . Experience in production environments requiring disciplined quality systems. Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Technology, or a related field. Automotive or plastics/rubber manufacturing background . What We're Looking For Detail-oriented, analytical problem solver. Strong communicator who can translate technical data into actionable insights. Hands-on engineer comfortable with inspection, testing, and quality tools.
