Job Title:
Quality Engineer Job Description The Quality Engineer plays a key role in ensuring that production processes, products, and quality systems consistently meet established standards and customer expectations. This position focuses on managing and improving the quality management system, leading process and product audits, driving corrective and preventive actions, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment. The role requires strong technical knowledge, proven analytical ability, and the capability to lead small teams and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Responsibilities Apply preventive tools for process control based on the analysis of quality and process indicators within the production area. Audit processes, products, and the quality management system to verify compliance with ISO 9001 and other applicable regulations and quality standards. Conduct customer inspection visits at the plant to demonstrate compliance with product specifications and quality requirements. Generate and maintain control indicators to prioritize and monitor failures or deviations that require rapid resolution. Implement process improvements and corrective actions to address process problems, based on the analysis of failures in key product variables, critical quality characteristics, and customer complaints. Document, maintain, and update process MEFAs and other relevant quality documentation in an accurate and timely manner. Establish and manage barriers and containment actions to ensure non-recurrence of issues related to corrective actions, complaints, failures, internal deviations, and late deviations. Prepare clear and detailed reports of inspections, tests, failures, and complaints, and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders. Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact to enhance product quality, process capability, and customer satisfaction. Coordinate several quality-related projects simultaneously, ensuring effective planning, execution, and follow-up. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement, CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions), and process optimization activities. Interpret and use engineering drawings and specifications to evaluate product and process conformance, when applicable. Support internal and external audits and contribute to maintaining and improving the overall quality management system. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree required, preferably in engineering. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required for candidates focusing on mechanical and welding-related processes. Minimum of 3 years of experience in production quality. Hands-on experience with ISO 9001 and quality management systems. Experience with CAPA, auditing, process improvement, and continuous improvement activities. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to influence others. Ability to lead small teams and drive initiatives of moderate scope and impact. Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously in a manufacturing environment. Effective problem identification and problem-solving skills. Proven analytical and organizational ability. Quality engineering experience within a production or manufacturing setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications
ISO 9001
certification or formal training (mandatory for the role). Knowledge or experience with UL (Underwriters Laboratories) standards (recommended). Knowledge or experience with FM (Factory Mutual) standards (recommended). Previous welding experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred). Familiarity with
ISO 3834
for welding quality requirements (preferred). AWS-related knowledge or certification (preferred). Ability to interpret engineering drawings (preferred). Experience in mechanical engineering, quality engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Experience generating and tracking quality and process performance indicators. Experience preparing detailed inspection, test, and failure analysis reports. Work Environment This role operates in a manufacturing and production environment that emphasizes adherence to a formal quality management system such as
ISO 9001.
The Quality Engineer works closely with production, engineering, and other cross-functional teams on the shop floor and in office settings to perform audits, inspections, and data analysis. The position involves regular interaction with customers during plant inspection visits and participation in internal and external audits. The work includes handling technical documentation, reviewing engineering drawings, and using standard quality tools and systems to monitor and improve processes. The environment supports continuous improvement, structured problem solving, and collaborative teamwork focused on maintaining high product and process quality. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shreveport, LA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $39.00 - $41.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
