Reliability/ Mechanical Engineer
POSITION
RELIABILITY/MECHANICAL
ENGINEERLOCATION
WOODBRIDGE, VAGGS Information Services, a nationally recognized technical publications company serving leading manufacturers in transportation, aerospace, medical supply, construction and agricultural equipment, has an immediate need for a qualified candidate to fill a Reliability/Mechanical Engineer position at our customers' location in Woodbridge, VA.This position supports a vehicle program and would coordinate the integration requirements of the Drivetrain Systems and Subsystems with other affected product teams such as structures, hydraulics and system integration. The work involved would include but not be limited to:
  • Conducts root cause analysis to determine failure modes; redesign of subsystems within the current design requirements to eliminate the failure.
  • Performs Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) on the IPT Platform and Subsystems.
  • Efforts to include maintaining a Failure Reporting, Analysis, Corrective, Action System (FRACAS) database and failure trending.
  • Supports Root Cause Analysis (RCA) efforts within design/product IPTs.
  • Acts as primary subject matter expert for the Drivetrain System; ability to interface with other design and integrating IPTs to coordinate designs and resolve technical problems.
  • Provides technical test site support for the Drivetrain IPT with some travel required.
  • Directs the creation, redesign, and management of PROE models for assigned design responsibilities; works with PROE designers to generate models, perform design analysis or direct activities of the analysis group in support of Drivetrain IPT designs.
  • Support the Drivetrain systems with managing interfaces, system requirements, technical issue resolution, as well as managing cost, schedule, weight, DTUPC, and RAM-D.
  • Maintain accurate documented records for all engineering changes.
Candidate must have a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline with 3 to 9 years of related experience. Must be able to multi-task in developing and reviewing engineering designs; ability to conduct root cause analysis to determine engineering design failures and conduct redesign efforts; and demonstrated ability to work in a team/IPT environment. Candidate must be motivated, energetic, take direction well, and work with others in a professional manner. Strong leadership, communications, planning, coordination and management capabilities are also required. Occasional overtime, weekend and off-hours work as well as occasional travel in support of remote vehicle testing and meetings with subcontractors. Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining a Secret Security Clearance.
