Job Description

Quality Manager
Job Title:
Quality ManagerJob DescriptionThe Quality Manager drives continuous quality improvement within the production environment and leads a team of quality control inspectors and technicians. This role ensures that organizational quality objectives are consistently achieved by maintaining robust inspection, testing, and evaluation methods, and by upholding relevant industry standards in electronics manufacturing. The Quality Manager also plays a key role in data-driven decision-making, corrective action, and risk analysis to support high-reliability products for demanding applications.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of quality control inspectors, AOI/X-ray operators, final QC inspectors, quality technicians, and quality engineers
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, performance development, and appraisal of departmental quality staff
  • Direct the day-to-day activities and priorities of quality team members to ensure efficient and effective operations
  • Ensure compliance with electronics manufacturing standards, including IPC-A-610 and
J-STD-001
  • Oversee the completion of first article inspection reports and certifications of conformance, ensuring accuracy, thoroughness, and timely delivery
  • Maintain and enforce standards, methods, and procedures for inspection, testing, and evaluation throughout the production process
  • Participate in third-party audits with external bodies such as certification organizations and customers, representing the quality function effectively
  • Analyze departmental-level quality data and prepare reports that support continuous improvement and management decision-making
  • Document nonconformances and initiate corrective actions, including root cause analysis and risk assessments, to prevent recurrence
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of quality management systems aligned with AS9100 and
ISO 9001
requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and supply chain, to resolve quality issues and improve processes
  • Ensure that quality processes and documentation remain current, controlled, and compliant with internal and external requirements
  • Balance multiple projects and priorities under tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality and accuracy.
Essential Skills
  • Demonstrated experience in quality management within an electronics manufacturing or closely related environment
  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems, with prior experience working with or implementing an AS9100 program preferred
  • Strong understanding of IPC-A-610 and
J-STD-001
standards for electronics manufacturing and assembly
  • Proven knowledge of quality processes, standards, and methodologies across inspection, validation, and quality assurance activities
  • Experience with quality control and quality management systems, including
ISO 9001
  • Ability to interpret and apply industry standards and customer requirements in a production environment
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical and quality-related information across all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational and managerial skills, including the ability to lead and motivate a diverse quality team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint for reporting, documentation, and presentations
  • Ability to multi-task and manage changing priorities and schedules under tight deadlines
  • Strong initiative and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
  • Analytical skills to interpret quality data, identify trends, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with
AS9100, ISO
9001, or similar quality management systems in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability industries
  • Familiarity with electronics inspection and validation processes, including AOI and X-ray inspection
  • Exposure to PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and supplier quality management practices
  • Experience supporting or participating in third-party audits by certification bodies or customers
  • Comfort working with data-driven quality metrics and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Professional, composed disposition with the ability to represent the quality function effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
