Job Description

Actalent Engineering is seeking qualified candidates for a Quality Engineering opening with a metals fabricator that is located in Westminster, MD. This person will serve as the vital link between quality architecture and production reality, translating evolving QMS into practical, daily improvements on the shop floor. Making it work in practice - coaching operators, solving real-time problems, and ensuring quality becomes embedded in how work is completed rather than something that is checked after the fact. During the transformation from traditional fabricator to engineered solutions provider, you'll help production teams see quality as their ally in delivering exceptional products on time. By bringing both technical expertise and collaborative problem-solving to the floor, you'll drive the behavioral change that turns quality from a checkpoint into a competitive advantage across our data centers, industrial power, and defense work. Below is a summary of responsibilities for this position: Build relationships across shifts and departments to ensure consistent quality practices Partner with production teams to implement quality processes that prevent defects at the source Conduct in-process inspections and first article inspections that teach rather than just verify Lead root cause analysis sessions that engage operators as problem-solvers, not problems Develop and deliver hands-on quality training that resonates with skilled tradespeople Create visual management tools and job aids that make quality standards clear and achievable Support NCR resolution with a focus on permanent corrective actions and process improvement Collect and analyze quality data to identify trends before they become systemic issues Coordinate with suppliers on quality requirements and incoming material verification Assist in customer audits and certification processes with confidence and transparency Support in developing and maintaining ISO documentation that reflects actual practice Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on floor-level insights and operator feedback This position is onsite at our Westminster, MD facility with occasional travel (10%) to PA Below is a summary of requirements for qualified candidates: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field, or equivalent technical training and manufacturing experience. ASQ certification such as Certified Quality Technician (CQT), Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is a plus but not required. 3+ years of hands-on quality experience in manufacturing, in metal fabrication and welding. Experience with inspection tools, measurement equipment, and technical drawings/specifications. Understanding of
ISO 9001
requirements and their application to daily operations. Success in deploying root cause analysis tools and statistical process control. Experience in training and coaching production personnel in quality practices. Strong communication skills to translate technical requirements into practical applications. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Westminster, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $90000.00/yr. Comprehensive health and dental insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid time off starting at 3 weeks (increases with length of service), 11 paid holidays, and the option of a 4-day work week if preferred.
