Senior Quality Engineer ABC Technologies - 3.1 Grand Rapids, MI Job Details Full-time $87,000 - $98,000 a year 1 day ago Qualifications Manufacturing facility Quality assurance within automotive industry Manufacturing company experience Full Job Description Job Summary The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for testing the functionality of technical components or products for their company. As a quality engineer, your job duties include developing testing scripts, performing functional testing as part of the development team, and documenting any defects that you discover. Job Responsibilities Ensure that customer quality requirements are met on assigned products and programs. Incumbent also participates in the review of all design, manufacturing, test, and supplier documentation. This includes a review of design drawings, process procedures, quality manuals, test procedures, and inspection analysis. Provide visual aids and work instructions. Play a key role in serving as a "referee" in making accept or reject decisions. Review quality trends associated with his or her assigned product or program. Once a defect is identified, the incumbent assists in identifying the root causes of the problem and instituting corrective action. Typical corrective actions include changes to work instructions, changes to inspection analysis, and changes to process procedures. Ensures that product quality is attained in the assigned product group or program. Recommends or implements the appropriate corrective action to quality problems in the assigned area, with the aid of manufacturing, engineering, design, purchasing, etc. Write quality plans, procedures, forecasts, manpower plans, etc. Responsible for rectifying machine and fixture problems. In a critical situation will require discussion with other team members and Engineering Mgr. to decide on action to be taken. Ensure jobs are running safely and/or product quality specifications are being met. Verify that daily job performance standards are being attained. Verify that work orders and preventive maintenance are completed accurately and on a timely basis. Ensure safe and proper operation proper of every fixture. Verify that preventive maintenance is performed to quality and production standards. Ensure documentation and that spare parts are available. Parts must be ordered and maintained in their proper storage area. Inspect and take any corrective action necessary to trim fixtures, band saws, machines, finishing fixtures, etc., when necessary to ensure employee safety and product quality. Monitor all shift performances and take whatever corrective action is necessary to maintain production and quality standards. Ensure that all aspects of his or her area of responsibility are in full compliance with the quality system in place at the operation at all times. Carry and enforce ABC Technologies workplace safety guidelines and health and safety statement. Ensure first aid treatment is given to an injured employee immediately and further assistance, including medical is sought immediately. Complete reports of accidents / incidents immediately and participate in corrective action process. Ensure safety concerns that arise from safety incidents, accidents or safety meetings are corrected immediately. Ensure work instructions are followed to produce quality part per customer specifications. Ensure all local, state and federal laws are upheld and followed in relation to safety, environmental, hiring and recruitment and worker safety, as stated by MIOSHA and the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Association. Contribute to a work environment free from harassment, where fairness, equality and non-discriminatory practices are standard Job Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline (i.e. Manufacturing, Mechanical, Quality) preferred. 6+ years' experience in a quality engineering role at an automotive manufacturing facility required. GMFord customer portal experience required. Proficient in AIAG core tools. Skilled in data analysis and quality software. Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team. Detail-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement. Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
