This is an on-site position located in Livonia, MI.The Advanced Engineering Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, controlling, and assuring quality processes and product requirements for assigned customer programs and departmental operations. This role leads continuous improvement activities, applies inspection and risk-evaluation controls, and utilizes structured problem-solving methods to resolve deficient quality processes and outputs. The role supports compliance with applicable quality management system requirements and ensures effective communication of quality expectations across internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
As a Quality Engineer, you will:
Lead continuous improvement initiatives aligned with annual departmental and organizational performance objectivesDevelop and implement corrective-action solutions and project launch evaluation methods using structured methodologies such as 8D and root cause analysis to address customer and internal issues and prevent recurrenceManage departmental gage calibration programs (approximately 400 gages), ensuring compliance with applicable standards, maintaining inventory, and generating gage risk assessments to mitigate out-of-tolerance risksEvaluate and support supplier quality activities for outsourced project requirements, including assessment, issue resolution, and ongoing performance supportAuthor, maintain, and improve department procedures, forms, work instructions, and guides to support clarity, compliance, and operational efficiencyMaintain departmental skills matrices, organizational charts, and training assessments, including documentation of continuing education and competency developmentProvide ISO-related training (including
Perform written and verbal quality reporting, present quality information and KPIs, and participate in internal and external meetings as a quality representativeInitiate, document, and follow up on customer feedback activities, including surveys and related action items as applicableSupport departmental safety responsibilities as assigned, including participation in safety walks, toolbox talks, and job hazard analysis activitiesTo be considered a Quality Engineer, you will need:
Associate's degree in a relevant manufacturing or technical field, or equivalent experienceMinimum of three (3) years of related quality experience in a manufacturing, assembly, or technical environmentU.S. Citizen allowing for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) complianceStrong proficiency in structured problem-solving methodologies, including 8D, root cause analysis, and risk-based quality toolsAbility to analyze operational situations, evaluate risk, and apply management and quality tools to resolve organizational and process challengesAbility to manage multiple projects concurrently and lead cross-functional team members toward objective, compliant quality outcomesKnowledge of blueprint interpretation, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and inspection techniques. Able to interpret engineering drawings, related specifications and requirements and communicate them to the cross-function teamWorking knowledge of quality management systems, associated documentation requirements, and audit processes, including planning, execution, reporting, and follow-upAdvanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, with emphasis on Excel-based reporting, data analysis, graphs, and presentationsAbility to interact professionally on a technical level with internal teams, suppliers, and customersA successful candidate may also have:
