COO Role Purpose The Senior Process Engineer owns the identification, execution, and sustainment of manufacturing process improvements with measurable impact on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. The role is responsible for defining, maintaining, and controlling process conditions, operating parameters, and run information required to achieve stable, repeatable performance. The role provides plant-level technical leadership, applies sound engineering judgment, and ensures process knowledge, controls, and improvements are standardized, documented, and sustained. The Senior Process Engineer has authority to define and adjust process conditions within validated operating windows; deviations outside established limits require documented review and approval.Role Scope and Ownership The Senior Process Engineer:
Owns plant-level process improvement initiatives tied to safety, quality, delivery, and cost outcomes Owns the application of Lean and Six Sigma methods to chronic operational problems Owns development and sustainment of standard work, process controls, and operating discipline Owns analysis and improvement of process capability, throughput, yield, and labor efficiency The Senior Process Engineer does not serve as: Supplemental production supervision Permanent firefighting or short-term coverage for other functions A substitute for maintenance, quality, or scheduling ownership Key Responsibilities Process Engineering Analyze manufacturing processes to identify constraints, variation, and loss Lead root cause analysis using data-driven and statistical methods Develop, validate, and implement process changes Support new product introductions, trials, and process validations Continuous Improvement Lead Lean Six Sigma projects using DMAIC and DFSS methodologies Plan and execute kaizen events with defined scope and measurable outcomes, including SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die) and 5S workplace organization initiatives where applicable Drive sustained improvements in equipment availability, performance rate, yield, scrap, rework, cycle time, and throughput Ensure improvements are documented, trained, and embedded into standard work, including the use of error-proofing (poka-yoke) where appropriate Data, Metrics, and Systems Define and maintain plant-level performance metrics (equipment availability, performance rate, downtime, scrap, inventory) Improve reliability and usability of production data (manual and digital) Translate data into actionable improvement priorities Support effective use of ERP and production reporting systems as related to process improvement Cross-Functional Integration Partner with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain on systemic issues Support customer, corporate, and external audits as required Ensure process changes are controlled through appropriate change management Leadership and Influence Serve as technical authority for process improvement within the plant Mentor engineers, supervisors, and CI resources in problem-solving methods Communicate clearly with operators, supervisors, and leadership Escalate risks and barriers with proposed solutions Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Industrial, Mechanical, or related) 8+ years of manufacturing experience Demonstrated success leading process improvement initiatives in a production environment Strong working knowledge of Lean manufacturing and statistical problem-solving Preferred Qualifications Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt Experience in high-volume or continuous manufacturing ERP or manufacturing systems exposure (e.g., SAP) Experience mentoring engineers or CI practitioners Performance Expectations Performance is evaluated based on: Measurable improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and cost metrics Completion and sustainment of improvement initiatives Adoption and adherence to standard work Quality and durability of implemented process controls Credibility and effectiveness as a technical leader Change Control This Job Description functions as a Role Charter.
