What you'll do Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following: Establish and govern the overall vehicle-level validation strategy, including scope definition, test methodologies, resource allocation, and tool selection Define validation frameworks ensuring comprehensive coverage of functional and non-functional requirements across all vehicle domains Ensure alignment between validation strategy and evolving product requirements, including early validation through simulation and virtual methods Drive standardization of validation processes, KPIs, and reporting across program Own end-to-end DVP&R definition and governance within Codebeamer, ensuring full traceability between requirements, test cases, and validation results across all levels Define, document, and align vehicle-level test cases with cross-functional teams, ensuring formal sign-off and linkage to requirements across the full requirement hierarchy Partner with engineering teams to ensure requirements are validated, traceable, and aligned with verification and validation activities Govern validation scorecards and KPIs, providing weekly visibility into validation status, risks, and readiness to leadership Drive continuous improvement of digital workflows to increase efficiency, reduce manual errors, and strengthen release confidence Lead procurement and lifecycle management of measurement systems, ensuring compliance with technical standards and cost efficiency Define required signals, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems to support validation objectives Oversee validation tools, data systems, and test environments to support scalable program execution Negotiate and manage contracts for proving grounds and external testing partners across North America Define validation environments including proving grounds, public road, and climate conditions (cold, hot, humid) to ensure comprehensive test coverage Develop long-term strategies for validation capacity, utilization, and strategic partnerships Own validation of vehicle-level targets and requirements, including definition, benchmarking, and performance evaluation across key attributes Oversee functional and durability validation programs, ensuring alignment with vehicle performance targets and regulatory requirements Direct validation across all vehicle build phases (AGT, prototype, pre-series), ensuring readiness for production and launch Actively participate in MST (Module/Sub-System Team) forums, integrating validation requirements into development and driving alignment across cross-functional stakeholders Ensure validation readiness aligns with integration milestones and program timing Authorize functional and non-functional product releases from a validation and verification perspective Drive cross-functional alignment between engineering, quality, and program management for release readiness Approve vehicle-level changes and manage re-validation and re-certification processes Provide executive-level reporting to CTO and senior leadership, including risk assessments, KPIs, and validation status Translate complex technical risks into clear go/no-go recommendations for vehicle releases and program milestones
Location & Travel Expectations :
The role will be based out of a Scout Motors location in Charlotte, North Carolina or Novi, Michigan. This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time. Here's what else you'll bring: Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or related field with 10+ years of experience Extensive experience in vehicle validation, verification, and testing within the automotive industry Proven experience defining validation strategies and leading full vehicle validation programs Strong expertise in requirements traceability and ALM tools, including Codebeamer (or equivalent such as Jama, DOORS,) Experience owning DVP&R development and validation execution at vehicle level Strong understanding of vehicle development lifecycle from prototype through production Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical data into executive-level insights and decisions Expertise in data-driven problem solving, issue management, and process optimization What you'll gain The benefits of joining Scout include the chance to build products and a company from the ground up. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience.
