The Quality Leader will support cross-functional teams in identifying risks, investigating quality problems, identifying and implementing quality controls, and qualifying new or revised products and processes. Responsible for ensuring product quality and specification compliance for sourced products and materials. Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for quality requirements for the cross-functional team in the assigned categories. This role leads a team of quality engineers.The Quality Leader is responsible for people and technical leadership, quality ownership, and business partnership for assigned categories or product families and provides technical mentorship to Quality Engineers while driving sustained quality improvement. Some travel will be expected and availability for international conference calls will be required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the development and execution of qualification plans for new products and changes to existing products/processes.
- Work closely with cross-functional personnel to identify and resolve potential quality issues in new and existing products.
- Enforce a corrective action system that ensures the timely and permanent resolution of all failures to meet established quality requirements.
- Ensure consistent application of quality systems, APQP processes, and compliance requirements across the team
- Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data in reports to management with recommendations.
- Development and implementation of document control system for the quality management system assigned
- Decision authority on product disposition, risk acceptance, and escalation within category
- Serve as the quality interface with Sales, Legal, Regulatory/Compliance, Consumer Services, and customers for quality escalations as needed
- Support Compliance with Global requirements analysis and regulations
- Takes a leadership role in problem resolution and process improvement
- Directly manages, develops, and evaluates Quality Engineers.
- Owns performance management and development plans for assigned team
- Accountable for Cost of Quality trends and improvement targets
- Represents Quality in business reviews and leadership forums assigned Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical engineering or science discipline. Min 10 years technical experience and knowledge in high volume consumer products
- Min. 7 yrs. Quality Engineering exp., with some experience with Professional direct reports
- Knowledge of quality methods and systems (statistics, reliability, sampling and auditing).
- Knowledge of APQP/PPAP/FMEA/Control plan/MSA/Error-proofing.
- Experienced background in various types of manufacturing. Working knowledge in plastics, glass, metals, and/or electric commodities is preferred.
- Strong project management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel & PowerPoint.
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of problem-solving techniques and strategies, including root cause analysis, 8D, 5Why, PDCA methodologies.
- Experience in six-sigma, lean, FMEA and team-based project management is highly desirable.
- Must understand how to determine risk associated with level of testing and inspection performed to make good decisions based upon the analysis of those tests and inspections.
