Job Description:
A leading company in the aerospace and defense industry is seeking a Quality Engineer to join their team in Rochester, NY. This is a 6 month contract-to-hire opportunity offering strong long-term potential and exposure to high-impact quality and manufacturing initiatives. The Quality Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring product quality and compliance across manufacturing and supplier processes. This individual will actively participate in supplier communications, quality reviews, and root cause investigations, while supporting key quality functions such as MRB (Material Review Board) and design reviews. The role requires both office-based work and hands-on time on the production floor, collaborating closely with program managers, design engineering, and manufacturing teams. Key Responsibilities Participate in supplier calls and drive preventative actions related to quality concerns Investigate and resolve customer escapes, process nonconformities, and supplier corrective actions Support and contribute to Material Review Boards (MRB) and design reviews Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions Collaborate with program managers, design engineers, and manufacturing teams on quality initiatives Ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards and internal procedures Review and approve First Article Inspections (FAI) per AS9102 and QA standards Spend time both in a cubicle setting and on the production floor supporting operations Required Skills Bachelor's degree in Engineering Strong experience with Root Cause Analysis in a manufacturing environment Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Experience with AS9102 and First Article Inspection (FAI) review and approval Familiarity with QA standards, including
QA-01.1.1
Strong communication skills with cross-functional teams
Compensation:
$45/hr to $50/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
