SUMMARY The Customer Quality Engineer (CQE) ensures full adherence to customer specifications and quality requirements throughout the product lifecycle. This role emphasizes translating customer requirements into effective internal processes, developing capable, compliant manufacturing processes, and evaluating organizational and process capabilities to meet customer needs at quote time. This role involves interpreting technical documents, flow-down requirements, and creating actionable, compliant work instructions to ensure regulatory and customer compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This role requires a blend of technical engineering knowledge, cost estimation, and production
  • scheduling to ensure component parts are manufactured per customer drawings and specifications are delivered on time and within budget
  • Ensure customer specifications are fully flowed down into internal processes, control plans, through the creation of work instructions
  • Facilitation and implementation of new processes with Planning and Operations
  • Serve as the primary quality point of contact for customer quality requirements and specification clarification
  • Monitor and ensure ongoing compliance with customer-specific and regulatory requirements
  • Process Development and Quality Planning
  • Support new product introductions and engineering changes with a focus on process readiness and customer quality expectations
  • Lead or support the development of quality processes that ensure customer requirements are built into product and process design
  • Evaluate process engineering changes and work with the team to assess manufacturing impacts.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on defect prevention and process capability
  • Quote and Feasibility Review
  • New Part Development (NPI): Participate in the development and prototyping phase of customer-designed new parts, providing feedback on "design for manufacturability" (DFM) and current capabilities.
  • Evaluate internal manufacturing, inspection, and testing capabilities against customer specifications
  • Identify gaps, risks, and special requirements at the time of quote and recommend mitigation plans
  • Support Sales and Program Management by providing quality input for additional costs and lead time
  • Ensure customer-specific requirements are clearly defined and documented upon contract acceptance
  • Create internal procedures and controls for compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred
  • 3-5+ years of experience in customer or supplier process development
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100 preferred
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret technical customer prints and designs
  • Must be adaptable, solution oriented and a blend of being highly technical and a people-person
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Sitting for extended periods.
  • Working full-time, typically 40 hours per week.
  • May be required to work overtime, weekends, or holidays.

working experience: Keep in mind, this is not a quality assurance role, but this person will be working within these requirements. The Customer Quality Engineer is going to be going to be reviewing, interpreting and process planning for supplier requirements, critical safety items, installations and removals, supplier manuals, component cleaning processes, terms and conditions and other technical information surrounding customer projects.
