This role is responsible for ensuring products and processes meet customer requirements, regulatory standards, and internal quality expectations throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. The Quality Engineer will work cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, and external vendors to support process control, risk reduction, root cause analysis, inspection planning, and compliance initiatives. Key Responsibilities Quality Planning & Process Control Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Control Plans (QCPs), review and approval of inspection processes, and process validation requirements. Support development and execution of sampling plans, SPC methodologies, and inspection criteria. Execution of gauge R&R studies Monitor manufacturing processes and quality metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Action Lead investigation of nonconformances using structured problem-solving methods such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, and RCCA. Support corrective and preventive action (CAPA/CAR) activities to reduce recurrence of quality issues. Partner with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and containment activities. Customer & Engineering Support Review customer drawings, specifications, purchase orders, and technical requirements to ensure compliance and manufacturability. Support design reviews, first article inspections (FAI), and engineering change activities. Assist with development and review of PFMEA, control plans, and process flow documentation. Validation & Compliance Support validation of manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and measurement systems. Participate in PPAP activities, capability studies, and production readiness reviews as required. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and customer-specific quality requirements. Supplier Quality & Incoming Inspection Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality concerns and improve incoming material quality. Support supplier audits, vendor corrective actions, and supplier qualification activities. Review incoming inspection data and support material traceability requirements. Documentation & Reporting Maintain quality records, inspection reports, and controlled documentation in accordance with QMS requirements. Support internal audits, customer audits, and compliance reporting activities. Assist in development and maintenance of quality procedures, work instructions, and forms. Main Job Duties/ Skills Develop and maintain standardized in-process inspection and quality specifications Assist in the creation, revision, and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality documentation Create, manage, and maintain Quality Operating Procedures and quality system documentation Review and disposition nonconforming or out-of-tolerance parts, driving corrective actions and minimizing unnecessary scrap Apply statistical analysis and data-driven methodologies to support process control, quality improvement, and decision-making Perform internal process audits and inspection plan audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and operational procedures Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred. 3+ years of experience in manufacturing quality, process engineering, or quality systems. Experience in a high-mix, low-volume or custom manufacturing environment preferred. Working knowledge of
ISO 9001
quality systems and manufacturing process controls. Understanding of SPC, root cause analysis, inspection methodologies, and process validation. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems. Strong understanding of statistical analysis and the application of statistical methods within manufacturing and quality systems. Preferred Qualifications Experience with PPAP, PFMEA, FAIR, CAPA/CAR, and supplier quality management. Familiarity with
AS9100, ISO
13485, ITAR, or regulated manufacturing environments. ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification preferred. Experience with metrology equipment and measurement system analysis (MSA).
