The Lehigh Valley site serves as a critical North American hub focused on pharmaceutical and biotech packaging systems, including assembly, integration, factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, commissioning, and customer support for highly regulated manufacturing environments. Operations at this location emphasize GMP-compliant equipment, high-precision automation, and close collaboration between engineering, manufacturing, quality, and service teams to deliver turnkey packaging and fill-finish solutions. The organization supports customers across the pharmaceutical, biotech, and food industries, serving drug manufacturers, contract development and manufacturing organizations, medical product producers, and global food brands that require high-speed, high-precision, and regulation-compliant packaging technologies. The Commissioning Engineer will play a key role in bringing complex packaging and processing systems to life by leading on-site commissioning activities, verifying system performance, and ensuring equipment meets all functional, regulatory, and customer requirements prior to handover. Key Responsibilities Execute and lead commissioning activities for pharmaceutical and food packaging systems, including fill-finish, inspection, and automated packaging lines, ensuring systems perform according to design specifications and user requirements. Conduct functional testing, integrated system testing, and support factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing in compliance with GMP and regulatory standards. Collaborate closely with operations management, controls engineering, quality, and project management teams to resolve technical issues and drive timely system readiness. Support documentation efforts including commissioning protocols, test reports, deviation handling, and turnover packages for validation and customer acceptance. Provide technical troubleshooting and on-site support during ramp-up, handover, and early production phases to ensure stable and efficient operation. Required and Preferred Qualifications Bachelors degree in Engineering or related technical discipline, with hands-on experience commissioning automated machinery in pharmaceutical, biotech, food, or regulated manufacturing environments. Strong understanding of GMP principles, equipment qualification concepts, and regulated production requirements for pharma or biotech operations. Experience working with PLC-controlled systems, industrial automation, sensors, drives, and electromechanical assemblies; ability to troubleshoot complex system interactions. Ability to work onsite in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, collaborate cross-functionally, and support customer-facing commissioning activities.
Nice to have:
Prior experience with fill-finish systems, aseptic processing, inspection technology, or pharmaceutical packaging machinery; exposure to FAT, SAT, and validation readiness processes.
