Role :
The Reliability Engineer will report directly to the Reliability Manager and will play a critical role in improving equipment reliability, reducing unplanned downtime, and supporting long-term asset health across cement plant operations. This role partners closely with Maintenance, Production, and Engineering teams to analyze equipment performance, identify failure trends, and implement proactive maintenance strategies. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with 2-5 years of industrial experience who is looking to build a long-term career in heavy manufacturing and plant operations. The position requires a strong field presence and operational partnership with plant leadership and maintenance teams. Candidates should be comfortable working in a dynamic, 24/7 manufacturing environment, including intermittent support across shifts, weekends, and planned outages as operational needs require.
Key Responsibilities:
Support plant reliability initiatives across kiln, mill, quarry, conveying, and mobile equipment systems. Analyze equipment failures, downtime trends, and maintenance data to identify root causes and corrective actions. Lead or support Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and reliability improvement projects. Develop and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Monitor equipment conditions through vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and other predictive maintenance tools. Partner with maintenance planners and supervisors to improve maintenance execution and asset lifecycle management. Assist in development of spare parts strategies and critical equipment inventories. Support shutdown planning and execution activities during major outages. Utilize CMMS systems to track work orders, equipment history, and maintenance KPIs. Identify opportunities to improve plant efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, and increase operational uptime. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and productivity. Collaborate with OEMs, contractors, and internal technical teams on equipment upgrades and troubleshooting. Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Understand and comply with all safety regulations, able to identify and correct safety hazards, participate in safety training, safety topic meetings and task training, and cooperate with external inspectors.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline. 2-5 years of experience in reliability engineering, maintenance engineering, or heavy industrial operations. Working knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, and industrial processing systems. Familiarity with predictive maintenance technologies and reliability methodologies. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment documentation. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced plant environment. Physically able to traverse plant properties climbing steps, ladders, physical exertion, wearing MSHA personal protective equipment required in all weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in cement, mining, aggregates, steel, power generation, pulp & paper, or other heavy manufacturing environments preferred. Experience using CMMS systems such as SAP, Maximo, or similar platforms preferred. Exposure to vibration analysis or predictive maintenance programs. Experience supporting large-scale industrial shutdowns or turnarounds. Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles. EIT certification or progression toward PE licensure is a plus.
