Job Description

Meadville/Erie PA Area Summary:
Our client is a premier, tier 1 automotive supplier who is looking for a Quality Engineer. The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring production meets customer specifications, industry standards, and internal quality requirements. Oversees process control from raw material receipt through melting, molding, pouring, heat treatment, finishing, and final inspection. Utilizes statistical process control, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies to reduce defects, improve yield, and maintain compliance with quality systems such as ISO 9001 and
IATF 16949.
Collaborates with production, metallurgy, and maintenance teams to resolve non-conformances, implement corrective actions, and drive process optimization. Supports audits, documentation, and customer communication to ensure consistent delivery. The Quality Engineer will ideally have at least three years of relevant experience, preferably in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Quality Engineer Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related technical field Strong knowledge of metallurgical testing methods, microstructure evaluation, and mechanical property verification Working knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949, including audit participation Proficiency in root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, etc.) Experience using statistical process control, date analysis, and continuous improvement tools Familiarity with control plans, PFMEA, PAPP, and inspection documentation used in manufacturing environments Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills for working with production, customers, and suppliers Ability to work effectively in an industrial foundry environment with attention to safety, detail, and quality standards
Quality Engineer Job Responsibilities:
Ensure products meet customer specifications, drawings, metallurgical requirements, and applicable industry standards Monitor and verify process controls throughout melting, molding, pouring, heat treatment, and finishing operations Utilize statistical process control and data analysis to monitor trends, identify variation, and improve process capability Lead root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methods (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, etc.) Implement and verify effectiveness of corrective and preventative actions Support scrap reduction, yield improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives Review chemical composition, microstructure, nodularity, and mechanical property test results for compliance Manage internal nonconforming material and coordinate containment, disposition, and corrective action Respond to customer complaints and prepare quality reports and corrective action documentation Maintain compliance with
ISO 9001/IATF 16949
quality management system requirements and participate in audits Support new product launches, process changes, control plans, PFMEAs, and PPAP submissions Promote and follow all plant safety rules, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations
